This simple salve is so easy to make and an absolute staple for the herbal medicine chest! Used to treat sprains and even fractures Comfrey has a long history of use renowned for its remarkable ability to promote healing in soft tissues, making it particularly beneficial for treating sprains, strains, and even fractures. When applied topically, the salve harnesses the potent properties of Comfrey, which contains allantoin, a compound that aids in cell regeneration and helps to soothe inflammation. This makes it an ideal remedy for injuries, as it not only helps to reduce pain and swelling but also accelerates the healing process.
The salve can be easily prepared at home using a few simple ingredients,
including dried Comfrey leaves, a carrier oil such as olive or sunflower,
and beeswax to create the desired consistency.

I harvested my comfrey on the farm and gave it a quick dry in the air fryer as it contains a lot of moisture which can spoil the salve. I infused the dried comfrey in organic sunflower oil in a bain marie on a low heat for 45 minutes , strained it and measured the oil. For every 10ml of oil I added 2 grams of beeswax, returned it to the heat to melt and then poured it into clean jars labelled with the contents and date.
Comfrey salve shouldn't be used on broken skin as it heals so quickly it can trap dirt and bacteria , I use yarrow for wounds as it heals from the inside out, pushing nasties to the surface as it works!
